| day 1:
freedom form your ulcer? let's get started! just chew and swallow
the two pink tablets. then swallow the white tablet and the orange and
white capsule whole with a full (8 oz) glass of water.
so, apparently the reason that i've been having stomach problems for
about a year is that i have ulcers! yesssssss! i went to a new doctor
last week and i've tested positive for bacterial ulcers (caused by
helicobacter pylori, for you nerds keeping score at home). thats
actually a really good thing beause its easily treated and i don't have
to get a biopsy, which sounds like no fun at all. i'm finally dignosed
and will be feeling better soon. another cool (and nerdy) thing is that
i've studied this bacterium before in class, so its kinda cool to have
something i know a little bit about. the best part is my big box of
medicine (and i do mean big box). the treatment is a combination of 3
medications taken daily for two weeks. each dose is 4 pills, 4 doses a
day, for 14 days. thats a total of 224 pills, but its ok 'cause they're
in a very handy blister card, one for each day, seperated into four
sections. like the pill boxes our grandparents have to use, only
cooler! and, so that i don't forget, they included some handy reminder
stickers, how thoughtful! but the best thing is the stack of daily
notes they provided, as exampled above. its like one of those
inspirational daily calendars, only better! instead of insipring me
about living life to its fullest, enjoying every day, ect., it inspires
me to take my full dose of medications, congradulates me on hiting
milestones in my treatment, and sooths my worries about potential side
effects. oh goodness, this is totally the best round of antibiotics
ever. freedom from my ulcer can be on the horizon! |

| finally, its time to get super pumped about honduras! i am experiencing a wave of excitement now that i'm (mostly) done with schooling for the week. still lots to do but i God's gonna be moving like crazy, so just let go and join the flow. please pray for us as we travel and for all the people in la cebita that we will encounter. pray that we will share christ's love with our brothers and sisters there. that we will all stay healty and that we will all experience the power of God. mmmm, good stuff. |

| from a letter my grandma sent me:
" pray often, study hard, greet each day with a smile and your days will go well. "

| when
you feel like the days just drone
on and on and on
and you feel like the nights are quickly gone
and on the inside your heart is gaping wide
and on the inside you feel like no one's on your side
well, I am, I am
when you thought you could rest, but you found out you were wrong
when there's another need another battle another
one more thing that comes along
and on the inside
you hear the fall but you hate the falling sound
and on the inside
you can't pick another broken piece up off the ground
well I know
hush little baby don't say a word
Daddy's gone and bought you a great big heaven to rest in
He's bought it with blood and put the seal in your heart
it'll give you the hope you need to get up and start
again

| you know those roller coasters where it just shoots you right into the ride before you've had adequate time to think about your decision and prepare for the coming rush? thats pretty much what my semester has been so far. its day 2 and i have a presentation and a lab report due tomorrow, plus all the normal back to school stuff. so much for that long, easy ascent before the rush of the semester... |
